“Cool kids Moo”

August 19th, 2008

As I gave my online marketing ninja colleague Alexander Drewniak some new business cards, he noted that I had the same type of business cards used by Heysan. And, apparently, the peeps at Twitter use them as well.

So, for you to stay ahead of the curve: go get some Moo. All the cool kids are doing it!

Am I famous?

Flickr Statistics

Well, hardly. But once, a long long time ago, I decided that this one particular metric would be an indicator. I have on a weekly basis pulled calculated views per image on my flickr account, and in the beginning the trend was rather negative. (The biggest dip there is when our house was initially delivered - I took over 100 images which killed my numbers.)

Lately, even with an increasing uploading activity (I love Shozu) I have started seeing an upwards curve. Which is really cool.

Now, I will bask in this imaginary glory for a while. I will wait until the trend curve becomes positive, and then I will find another metric.

Summer is over (in the good way)

August 14th, 2008

This salesman from a multi variate testing firm once told me that “the online marketing manager decides when christmas season starts. In September he starts letting one of a thousand visitors get a christmas themed website, and when that tenth of a percentage starts converting like crazy, christmas has arrived.”

Using similar logic (and a lot less finesse) I must now conclude that this week is no longer summer. Traffic on all my web properties (in Sweden and abroad) has returned to normalcy. Thank goodness - it is equally scary each summer.

Proudly introducing Scrolli.com

Scrolli.com

An idea developed a long time ago, evolved into a website developed during this past summer. By Iyad Marzouka of course. My friend and I have been playing around with new technologies as well as old proven concepts. How about this:

- Endless scrolling (more images load as you approach the bottom)
- Free, non logged in commenting & uploading
- Boss Key (press Ctrl+Shift+X to quickly display a 404-page, then press it again to get back to image viewing joy)

I invite you to take a look, and to please give some feedback. Try uploading something, try commenting. As you can see, there are already some images there for you to enjoy!

The color of choice

August 12th, 2008

After many battles with ourselves and those around us, we finally realized one vital fact: the house is built to our specification, the color should be no different.

It is really interesting how the black has enraged practically a whole generation. Not our generation, it should be said, but the older one. People in or around our age love the black house, people in our parents general age don’t. They claim falsities such as “it is a new trend” or “it is impractical” to support their disapproval.

Now, the reason our house will be black is not that parents disapprove. It is simply because we approve.

Black it is!
